Swiss Papercutting Design Workshop with Nick Tsao
Create your bespoke papercutting Design
Did you know that the art of Swiss papercutting shares many similarities with the traditional Chinese papercutting tradition? In this unique and hands-on papercutting design workshop, you can combine both of these traditions and explore the fascinating similarities between Swiss and Chinese papercutting art.
The workshop will be led by Nick Tsao, who formerly worked as an architect for the Basel-based firm Herzog & de Meuron. Nick received his architecture training from the University of Cambridge and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is also the founder of Papertecture, a Hong Kong-based Papercutting Studio.
Nick will guide you in drawing and creating your own one-of-a-kind papercutting design, which will then be digitally enhanced and produced especially for you. Surprise your family and friends with your bespoke papercutting design. It's a perfect gift for yourself or your loved ones.
The workshop will be held in Nick Tsao's home at the Blue House in Wan Chai, which also serves as a design studio for his papercutting art. The historic Blue House in Wan Chai has been recognized with the UNESCO Award of Excellence. This is a great opportunity to witness heritage and creativity in one place. Swiss drinks and snacks will be served during the workshop. We look forward to seeing you!
The workshop is limited to 10 participants. Children aged 12 and older, accompanied by a parent, are welcome to join. Please ensure that your child is interested in the topic, as the workshop will last for 120 minutes.
Programme:
We offer two sessions — afternoon and evening — and you can choose the session that fits better with your schedule.

Nick Tsao will introduce you to the art of Swiss and Chinese papercutting. Shortly after, you will begin to unleash your creativity and draw your own unique papercutting design. During the workshop, we will enjoy some Swiss drinks and snacks.
End of the Workshop
