Swiss BBQ at the Beach

Let's celebrate the arrival of the cooler time of the year with a Swiss family BBQ. This year we go to the Hong Kong Outpost, run by our fellow countrymen Roland Buser, on Lantau Island. Roland has built a magnificent getaway right at the beach in Mong Tung Wan.

Join us for a chilled day at the beach with delicious food, good drinks, and great company!

We meet at Cheung Chau Ferry Pier (No. 5) in Central at 9:45am on Sunday, 3 November. We will then take the Fast Ferry to Cheung Chau (to be paid individually by each participant, no dogs allowed). We will then embark on a Sampan right from Cheung Chau to Mong Tung Wan. The Sampan journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Once we arrive at the Hong Kong Outpost we can either sit at the beach in the area especially prepared for us, go for a relaxing swim, or engage in some of the activities the Hong Kong Outpost offers. A tent will cover our area to ensure the utmost comfort.

The Swiss-inspired BBQ lunch begins around 1pm and includes several courses including salad, various meats, sausages, and a dessert. A vegetarian option is available upon previous order. Wine, beer, and other drinks can be bought directly at the store which belongs to the Hong Kong Outpost. We will spend the rest of the afternoon at the Outpost where Young and Old can enjoy a dip in the cooling water. It is recommended to bring thin rubber shoes as there are some sharp rocks further into the sea.

At 5:15pm a Sampan will pick us up and we will take the 30 minutes journey across to Cheung Chau - with a drink in hand enjoying the beautiful sunset. We will then embark on the Fast Ferry leaving Cheung Chau at 6pm, arriving in Central at approximately 6:40pm. If you like to stay on individually for dinner on Cheung Chau you are welcome to do so.

In case you wish to walk to and from the Hong Kong Outpost (ideally starting from Pui O) please feel free to do so.

Cost is for SAHK Members: HKD 400 for an adult and HKD 200 for children (5-12 years old), Non-Members: HKD 450 for an adult and HKD 250 for children (5-12 years old). This includes food and selected activites at at the Outpost. Not included are the costs for transportation by Ferry and Sampan (Sampan cost HKD 50 per person and ride) as well as drinks which are available at the Outpost at a small surcharge.

Please indicate in case you wish to walk to and from the Hong Kong Outpost on the Registration Form. Please also mark in case you wish to reserve the Vegetarian Option.

In case of Yellow, Red or Black Rain or T3 (or higher) on Sunday, 3 November at 8am in the morning the event will be postponed. In case you have registered but will not be able to join on short notice, the Hong Kong Outpost offers you a voucher to be consumed before the end of the Year.
