Swiss Family Hike: Discovery Bay to Mui Wo

Families, young and old as well as man’s best friend, your dog are welcome. Wear good walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses, suntan lotion and bring plenty of drinking water and snacks.

Programme:

9.00 am | Discovery Bay Ferry at Central Ferry Pier No. 3
Take the 9:00 am Discovery Bay Ferry from Central Ferry Terminal no. 3 and meet at Discovery Bay Ferry Terminal at 9:30 am. Or meet directly in Discovery Bay if you arrive from another location. Look for Marco Foehn, our Hiking Leader for the day.

9:30 am – 12:30 pm | Hike from Discovery Bay to Mui Wo
The hike from Discovery Bay to Mui Wo follows the coastline and up to the Trappist Haven Monastery, now called 'Our Lady of Joy Abbey'. From there, we will hike up to the mountain ridge from where we have a wonderful view over the harbor with Peng Chau and Hong Kong Island in the background. The trail is paved most of the way, mostly shaded and not too difficult. From the mountain ridge, we follow the trail down and follow the path along the Silver Mine Bay coast line to reach Mui Wo.

12:30 pm – 2:00 pm | Lunch in Mui Wo
Optional lunch on cost-sharing basis at the Capo Grill House, Ristorante Pizzeria with plenty of cold beer, wine, iced tea or coffee in Mui Wo village.

2:00 pm | Return by Ferry from Mui Wo to Central or back to Discovery Bay
We will take the 2:00 pm Ferry from Mui Wo to Central. You may also choose to return to Hong Kong, Kowloon or the New Territories via the Discovery Bay Ferry or take the City Bus from Discovery Bay to the MTR station. Transportation cost is at your own expense.
