What is "ZOPF"?
"Zopf" is a type of Swiss bread made from white flour, milk, eggs, butter and yeast. The dough is brushed with egg yolk before baking lending it its golden crust. This type of bread is traditionally eaten in Switzerland on Sunday mornings for breakfast. The German name ("Zopf") and French name ("Tresse") derive from the typical shape of the bread, meaning "braid".

Professional Guidance
The event will take place in a professional baking-studio. Rene Frauenfelder will lead the event and personally bring the bread-making experience closer to the children's hearts.
Rene Frauenfelder is an expert in the world of baking. He has many years of baking experience having worked for the famous Swiss Confectionery "Confiserie Sprüngli' as well as the renowned Belgian pastery shop "Confiserie Van Damme". In 1994 he co-founded Gourmet House Limited in Hong Kong and has since been creating his own unique pastries and baked goods.

Duration
The event will take about 4 hours. We will start with mixing the ingredients. Afterwards you can show your strength by thoroughly kneading the dough. While the dough is resting we will enjoy some light lunch snacks and will learn more about the art of bread-baking. After that we will shape the "Zopf" and put your creation in the oven to be baked golden brown.

You are responsible for transportation to and from the venue. Upon registration, you will receive detailed information on how to reach the venue.

Who can join?

  • The event is exclusive for the kids of SAHK Members
  • The minimum age for the children is 8+
  • Maximum 10 children can participate
  • Each child is allowed to bring one adult
  • Slots are allocated on 'first-come-first-served' basis

Did you know?
The following morning is Father's Day. This event is a great opportunity for father and child to work together preparing a handmade "Zopf" for Daddy's special day.
