  • Auditorium of the International French Lycee, 39 Price Rd, Jardine’s Lookout

The “Comédie de la Mansonnière”, theatre troup that presented the “Malade Imaginaire” last  year in Hong Kong, will present this fun, short play by Marivaux on 12th, 13th and 14th March 2015.

Following their shipwreck, 4 survivors land on “The Island of Slaves” and become captives to their own former slaves! With light-hearted humour, Trivelin, their frivolous hostess, manages to make everyone forgive in typical Marivaux style.

“The island of slaves” deals with the serious subject of servants and masters, but still remains a play by Marivaux with all that that implies – humouristic, lighthearted entertainment.

All proceeds will go to the charity, PSE “pour un sourire d’enfant” (a children’s smile), that is active in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The association works relentlessly to provide children living on the city dump with an education and the possibility of escaping from the cycle of poverty and violence they are accustomed to from an early age.  By providing them with education and professional training, the children are able to leave the misery of the dump, find a job and participate in their country’s future.

The founders of PSE, Christian et Marie-France des PALLIERES, were voted “Humanitarian Heroes of the year” for 2014 by AIDEX, one of the largest organisations that encourages humanitarian aid in the world.
